Our Story

Meals by Misty began in 2007 when Misty Westover, then a 5th grade math teacher, wanted a hobby to keep her busy during holidays and time off. Misty has always loved cooking for a crowd and throwing dinner parties was her specialty! A few of her friends told her she should try sharing her talents with others. After reading every cookbook she could get her hands on, and after writing her own recipes, Meals by Misty began.

Over the next few years, Misty and her husband, Joey, welcomed their first child and moved to Trussville. Next came the second baby and then the third. Misty’s love for cooking was put on hold and she spent the next few years taking care of her babies and soaking in motherhood.

The babies grew a little and life started to get easier and Misty’s family made the decision that instead of going back to teaching, she would get back to cooking. The next day, she used social media to start a Facebook page and she began cooking for her friends and neighbors. The first week she had 15 orders. Within a month, she had 25 weekly orders. Misty was able to test out recipes and build a repertoire of delicious dishes. The orders kept coming and the time came to take the next step!

In 2018, Misty made a choice that she had been praying about for years. She found the perfect building, the perfect builder, and with a lot of faith, hope and love, the doors to Meals by Misty opened in April of 2018. They offer homemade southern style casseroles, sides, salads, her famous chicken salad and pimento and cheese, all made fresh everyday for hungry people on the go!
